Dior addict lipstick - 530 Bobo

Just picked this lipstick up in store - this is my first door lipstick and I adore the colour so much. The packaging is beautiful but it is soooo difficult to open!!!! You really need to pull hard to get the lipstick out! I don't know if mine was faulty ?? But please check b4 u buy! This is truly a high shine lipstick without a doubt. It is buildable and it would be suitable for those who want a sheer lip colour and those who don't mind reapplying often.
When you manage to open this lipstick, you will find that it can not stand upright like normal lipsticks do. The round ball at the end will not allow is not flat. It can only be placed laying down, which in my opinion is annoying. I really do love this shiny pink coral colour and would keep it because of this very reason.

NARS - Smudge proof eyeshadow base

NARS - Smudge proof eyeshadow base

I have been using Urban Decay's eyeshadow primer potion (original) for many years now and loved it! (Still do in fact). But recently, it just has not been working as well as it use to.

I'm not sure if my eyelids are more oily than usual or if the primer potion has changed. But I've heard so many good things about this eye primer/base that I thought I would give it a go. The consistency is white at first, then disappears to a clear base. It has 0.28 oz OR 8 grams of product inside.

I have not yet used it as I haven't been wearing much makeup lately. But I will keep you posted once I've tried it.

NARS Smudge proof eyeshadow base

I purchased this at Mecca Cosmetics at Chadstone shopping centre in Melbourne.

Price: A$39

You can purchase this online at http://www.meccacosmetica.com.au/

Alternatively, you can visit www.kissandmakeupny.com and purchase NARS products through a small New York store. They sell NARS and other cosmetics brands on the site and ships internationally for a flat rate of $9.95 USD.

Happy shopping everyone!

MAC Hey Sailor Collection - SUMMER 2012 Collection - Initial thoughts & Swatches

MAC Hey Sailor Collection - SUMMER 2012 Collection - Initial thoughts & Swatches

I recently purchased 3 products from MAC's Hey Sailor collection. I wasn't really interested in a most of what was on display except for one of the eyeshadows.  MAC's "Jaunty" was the eyeshadow that I really wanted. However, I did end up buying the "Blue Stripe" powerpoint eye pencil and "Fleet fast powder blush. I do love the packaging of this collection. Let me know what you purchased from this collection :)

In its original packaging

Fleet Fast powder blush is a satin finish with tiny flecks of shimmer. I don't think that this blush is unique or special...just another one of MACs standard blushes - I will really need to try this out on my cheeks!

*Price: A$43 - SOLD OUT online at www.maccosmetics.com.au
 Fleet fast powder blush

*Price: A$35 - SOLD OUT online at www.maccosmetics.com.au but I am sure that is still stock in the stores. Check out Myer and David Jones.

Eyeshadow Jaunty is a frost finish and it swatches well without a primer or base. It's a lovely beige colour.

Blue stripe power point eye pencil is sort of a metallic finish in my opinion. I think it will look very nice on as liner on top or the lower lash line as a pop of colour. Once it sets it STAYS.

*Price: A$34

Swatches (Left to right): Fleet fast blush, Jaunty eyeshadow, Blue Strip eye pencil

Lancome - Rouge in Love lipsticks

I was sucked in purely because of the packaging of this product. However, it turns out that these are very creamy and buttery lipsticks. I do enjoy them a lot. The colours are vibrant and gives a very smooth application.

I do love how small the lipstick is. I have not tried these enough to give them a rating.

Price: AUD$45 each.

Left to right: Rouge in Love in 170N, 106M, 156B, 163M

My favourite eyeshadow of the moment :)

My current favourite eyeshadow is from MAC's Shop and Cook Collection.

"Call me bubbles" palette is my favourite. Especially "brash" which is a veluxe pearl finish.

It complements my skin tone well and contrast with my dark brown eyes....makes them stand out! Such a pigmented  and vibrant colour in my opinion. Absolutely gorgeous. At first glance, I thought Brash was very similar to MAC's coppering eyeshadow. However, they are different when swatched.

MAC - Call me bubbles palette

My favourite, Brash!

Left: Brash Right: Coppering
Both are Veluxe Pearl Finishes

Left swatch: Brash -  Right: Coppering
Brash is more golden, whereas coppering is more red toned. Both are veluxe pearl finish, however, Brash is much more creamier and softer for some reason.

I would highly recommend this palette.

Price: AUD$75

Overall I would give this palette 4/5.

I Love MAC 217

I would have to say that out of all the makeup brushes that I've accumulated over the years, my favourite brushes would be my MAC 217 brush. It is versitle and has many uses. It is probably one of the most used and  talked about brush. I absolutely adore this brush and have many back ups. They last a long time and I've never had any problems. Sure all brushes shed but the 217 does not shed easily from my own experience.

The MAC 217 brush currently retails for $37 in Australia. However, you can buy yours cheaper on www.allcosmeticswholesale.com  - they are US$22 there. Shipping is quite reasonable too.  You will find some good deals and bargains there.

I hope this at least helps one person save some $$$$ :)

MAC Extra dimension skinfinish - my initial thoughts

I have not tried these yet, but they seem to swatch very nicely. Both colours are absolutely gorgeous. I purchased both of these at my local David Jones store. They are $55 each.

They purchased two shades - Superb and Whisper of guilt. They seem to be flying off the shelf. I went there today to check out some other stuff and Superb was sold out already.

I love both Superb and Whisper of Guilt. I always use my highlighters/skin finishes as an eyeshadow as well. I'm not sure if its safe to do so, but nevertheless I guess I can do whatever I like with them :P

These skin finishes are very smooth and I do like them. However, I would have to say that I love my Guerlain  Cruel Gardenia more.

I guess the only reason I purchased them is because I do not want to run out of Cruel Gardenia so quickly!!

I suggest that if you are interested in them, go and pick them up..."Superb" would be my choice over whisper of guilt.

P.S  - I did not purchase any of the extra dimension eyeshadows because they did not appeal to me. Not to say that they are not good.

Maybelline color sensational lipstick

Above picture: first swatch on top is Coral Fire 440, bottom swatch is Coral Crush 515.

I recently picked up a couple of lipstick from the Maybelline color sensational line. I am usually not a fan of maybelline as most products I've tried have always failed me. However, Maybelline caught my attention with their somewhat newish lipstick line.

There were testers available so I decided to try. To my surprise I they were quite creamy.

I decided to pick up 2 lippys to try. Mind you, in Australia, they are quite expensive. Around $13 a lipstick. I picked up 440 Coral Fire & 515 Coral Crush. Both are very vibrant coral colours.

How I would rate it?

Texture: 3/5
Scent: 4/5
Price: 3/5
Packaging: 2/5

Would I recommend?

Yes. My only complaint would be the packaging. The lipstick is too close to the rim and as a result it scratches the actual bullet on the side. Can get messy in the long run.
